Hi! I’m Ewa and I’m qualified laughter yoga coach and movement psychotherapist (DMP).

In 2015 I founded Rzeszow’s Laughter Club (now Rzeszow’s Relaxation Club) in which (and not only there) I’ve run laughter yoga classes, spontaneous dancing sessions, group relaxations and intuitive movement classes. In 2018 I came back to Ireland and I’m on the mission to “move” this country a bit…!

Spontaneous movement classes

Spontaneous movement it is a method of improving mental, emotional and also spiritual well-being, by spontaneously creating movement. This practice increases body awareness and helps to release all emotions, and clear the mind. It is fantastic way of getting to know yourself better and great opportunity for letting things go!

Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP)  it is a method of psychophysical therapy based on the theory that body and mind are inseparable. This practice involves intuitive body movement and dance to assist integration of emotional, physical, social and spiritual aspects of self. It is a way of expressing, exploring and addressing psychological difficulties, without talking about them. By practising DMP you can decode the patterns, traumas and rough emotions that are saved in your body cells.

Practised in groups or individually.

DMP is a quite new method and is often counted as one of the arts therapies, among music therapy, dramatherapy, and a type of embodied psychotherapy.

DMP coaches can follow different approaches based on the needs of the clients. The most common are:

  • Dance: intuitive dancing is a perfect way of letting control go. Participants do not need to evince any dancing skills, also there is no learning steps during the sessions.
  • Motion: breathing, gesture, posture, walking, simple movement, rhythmical movement.
  • Imagery: helps to acknowledge unconscious, difficult emotions such as fear, sadness or anger.
  • Embodiment: body awareness can support a “body-mind” integration.
  • Non-verbal communication: expressing emotions through the body language.
  • Creativity: being open for enlightenment supports finding new solutions to problems.

Laughter yoga classes

Laughter yoga (Hasyayoga) is a practice involving prolonged laughter. Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact, jokes and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

Class programme:

  • introduction
  • gentle warm-up techniques – stretching, chanting, clapping and body movement
  • series of ‘laughter exercises’ that combine the method of acting and visualization techniques with playfulness (laughter exercises are interspersed with breathing exercises)
  • free laughing
  • relaxation

What do you need:

  • comfy clothes
  • bottle of water
  • empty stomach
  • positive attitude 😉
  • no previous experience needed

Caution:

Laughter is contraindicated for people suffering from advanced (bleeding) piles and hemorrhoids or any bleeding tendencies in any part of the body, any acute symptoms of cough, any kind of hernia, cold and fever, epilepsy, heart disease with angina pain, incontinence of urine, persistent cough with breathlessness, severe backache, uncontrolled high blood pressure, within three months of a major surgery, and so on. If in doubt first ask your doctor if it’s OK for you to laugh.
